Amongst traditional narrowboat aficionados there is one manufacturer always held in high regard, of course we are talking about Hudson boats that were built at Glascote Basin in Tamworth.
The Hudson formula includes long under water swims for excellent handling, their own distinctive josher style bows, with nice little traditional features like bulkhead rings and Anser pins, along with a pigeon box.
This example replaces the more usual windows with portholes, creating a cosy cabin with an air of privacy, but of course along with steel doors all round, they also increase security.
Diligent Too is fitted with a powerful 3-cylinder Beta tug engine which sits in its own aft cabin and produces a mellow exhaust note similar to a vintage engine, but with all of the instant power output of a modern engine. This engine room is scumbled and decorated in a traditional Boatman's cabin style and is fitted with a Premier range, perfect for boating on those cooler days.
The aft bedroom with its twin bunks lends itself perfectly for boating with children or grandchildren.
The present owner has spent considerable time on preparing comprehensive notes on history, operation and maintenance.
